The Chicago Region Porsche Club presents RADE, a novice driver school with an emphasis on safety, in Elkhart Lake, WI at Road America—one of the premier racetracks in the country. This program, held over the Memorial Day weekend, was developed to teach novice drivers 18+ the skills necessary to drive your sports Porsche (no SUVs or E-cars) at its limits in a safe and controlled environment. All students will be provided an in-car instructor to show you the proper line around the track, teach how the principles of accel- and deceleration impact your vehicle, and help you learn car awareness on this 4-mile, 14-turn track. Novice drivers are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to attend the Novice Day DE at Blackhawk prior to coming to this event. This event will help you get up to speed on the big track at Road America.

All drivers who have not driven Road America previously must attend the MANDATORY novice driver’s orientation meeting to be held online in advance of the event, featuring veteran Club Race drivers John Ruther and Greg Turek. More details to follow. Additional classroom sessions and in-car instruction will be provided throughout the weekend.

Ladies' Day HPDE - June 13, 2024
Driver's Ed
06/13/24-06/13/24
Once again, PCA Chicago is hosting a Driver’s Education event dedicated to and for ladies. Have you ever wanted to try your hand at driving on the track but maybe had some reservations? What were they?

- Too much testosterone at those male-dominated events
- Don’t own a Porsche
- Don’t have the need for speed
- Don’t want to or are intimidated to drive partner’s Porsche
- Don’t want partner’s judgement or advice about driving

Over the years, as we’ve encouraged women to come out and participate, these are the things we’ve heard. Well, now there is an opportunity just for you to get behind the wheel of your Porsche sports car, Porsche SUV, or non-Porsche sports car and experience what it is like to drive on the North racetrack in Joliet, IL. Taycan or other EV's, or open-wheeled cars are not allowed.

It’s a well-established fact that women tend to be better drivers on the track—just ask any PCA driving instructor! Not necessarily faster, though sometimes, but better because they listen to instructions and implement quickly.

This is an event just for ladies (18 or older with a valid driver's license), run by ladies.

Please consider joining us. You never know, you may love it as we all do!

Important Details
- Taycan or other EV's, or open-wheeled cars are not allowed.
- Please note that you must register for yourself.  Registrations by a spouse or significant other for their partner will not be accepted.  This is due to the waiver requirements for this event.

This event also has an online classroom session on Monday, June 10th, starting at 7:00 PM where you will learn the basics of safely driving on a racetrack and what to expect during the event.  If you have never driven on a race track, attending this session is highly recommended.  Access information for attending the session will be emailed to new drivers in advance of the session.

Lastly, a HUGE THANK YOU to Napleton Westmont Porsche for sponsoring this event! Without the support, this event would not be possible. So thank you!

-All participants must create a ClubRegistration.Net account, register and pay online. No onsite/day of registration is allowed.
-Registration will promptly close at 8:50 am on the day of the event
-Events will be limited to 60 participants
- The success of our events is completely dependent on volunteers. We are asking for participants to pre-register for several key volunteer positions. Please select one item from the "Event Options" section; see descriptions for details.

Please help us run a successful event by:

1. Review the Tech Sheet and double check the “Registration Details” for accuracy
- This form will be attached to your confirmation and is available at the PCA Chicago Region website

2. Bring your completed Tech Inspection Form with you to the event.
- UTQG: This is the wear rating for your tires. This can be found on the sidewall of your tires. If you are new to autocross, the Tech Inspector can help you find where this is located.
- Make sure the positive battery terminal is completely covered with tape. This ensures that nothing can come in contact with the terminal. The PCA Chicago Autocross program reserves the right to deny participation to vehicles with excessive exhaust noise >95 db.

3. Park your vehicle next to the vehicle that arrived just before you (e.g.. not in the middle of the parking lot, no spaces in between cars). We would like to have all cars parked in the order of arrival. This significantly improves the flow of our Tech Inspection process and helps us start our event on time. If you want to park next to someone, please coordinate your arrival before entering the venue.

4. Empty everything out of your car immediately after parking so that it can be Tech inspected. Anything that is loose must be removed from your car, including floor mats.

5. Apply your assigned car number to both sides of your vehicle. Numbers should be 8” or larger (if you do not have pre-printed numbers use blue painters tape)

6. Place the completed Tech Inspection Form under your windshield wiper. This indicates that you are ready to have your car inspected.

7. Wait for your car to be inspected. After obtaining the event sticker and signed Tech Inspection Form from the Tech Inspector. Apply sticker to the front top section of your windshield on the driver’s side. This sticker can be left on your car for the whole season.

8. Proceed to the registration table with your signed Tech Inspection Form.

9. Check in with registration. If you did not sign the e-waiver via Clubregistration, you will need to sign the PCA Waiver. Get wristband.

10. Relax, mix and mingle, walk the course or help setup the course until the drivers meeting at 9:15 am.

11. And most importantly....Have Fun!

Participants are broken out into three groups: DRIVE, WORK, REST (in that order).

Drive:
1. This group will start driving at 9:30.
2. After your driving session is over, you will WORK.
3. After the last car has run and the course is “cold” promptly replace the workers on the
course. This enables us to quickly get the next driving group on the course

Work:
1. This group will work the course when we start at 9:30.
2. Please grab a safety vest before heading out to a workstation
3. Aside from the Starter there are no pre-assigned work stations. Fill in any work station with
less than two workers.
4. After the session is over and you are done working it is your turn to REST.

Rest:
1. This group will start the day resting while the first group (Drive) runs the course at 9:30
2. Use this time to eat lunch, but be ready to drive.
3. As the Drive group is finishing please keep an eye on the staging line for the last car to
complete the course.
4. Now, you’re ready to DRIVE!
We will cycle through the process of again in the afternoon. DRIVE, WORK, REST. We will cover this again in the drivers meeting and address any questions that you may have.
Thanks, in advance for your cooperation.

Classification and Bumping Guidelines:
Classes: https://pca-chicago.org/
It will sometimes be necessary to group classes together to form a competitive group for awards. It is preferred to have 3 or more competitors in a group. If that is not possible within these guidelines, a group may be comprised of less than 3 competitors.
The exception to this rule is the Open class which cannot be grouped with any other class.
Competitors will be bumped no more than one class to form a competitive group. Grouping will be performed by Timing & Scoring based on the registration information from Clubregistration prior to the event. It is important that the vehicle information is accurate and up to date upon registration

Vehicles are placed in the appropriate stock class using the current Parade Competition Rules for Autocross. The Chicago Region has made some minor changes to these classes based on Region experience and participation numbers. Modifications providing a positive effect in performance will cause the vehicle to be bumped up to a higher class depending on the type and number of modifications.  Competitors must compete in the class defined by the year, make and model of their car plus any bumping required by modifications.  If your car is equipped with a PDK you are bumped to the next class (ie if your car is in B4 according to the year and model, yet has a PDK you would be moved up to B5 before considering modification points for another class bump).  For every 5 modification points you accrue, you are bumped to the next higher class

General Notes:
There must be at least a 5-minute cool down period between runs by a vehicle including re-runs.
The competition will have two categories, Open for all participants and Women’s. Competitors must choose the category they will participate in prior to the start of the first event and must compete in that category for the remainder of the season.
Participants who do not pre-register will compete in X-Class for that event and will be ineligible for an event award. PCA members will have their results integrated with the appropriate class at the end of the year for overall consideration.

The classroom sessions cover the fundamentals of performance driving and Autocross, the events our club use to test and improve these skills. You’ll also receive personal in-car instruction while navigating through various exercises marked by traffic cones. Finally, you’ll be coached by volunteer PCA-experienced drivers as you negotiate a complete, untimed Autocross course, at your own speed. This event will occur rain or shine (besides, some driving exercises are more fun in the rain!).

Autocross School co-coordinators David Bowers, Adam Kern, and Joe Morsello, instructors Dana Comolli, Jenna Samp along with a whole host of volunteer instructors, will be putting on this first driving event of the season.

Pre-registration by April 8th is required. Lunch and a t-shirt are included in the registration fee and must be ordered in advance. Those who do not pre-register by the 18th may not be provided lunch or a t-shirt.

If you are feeling a little hungry afterword, then be sure to check out their regular restaurant when it opens at 11 am. They have an incredible comfort food menu with something for everyone.  And wouldn’t you know it… They brew their own beer. But wait, there’s more… They make their own spirits. Do you want to make a reservation in advance? Go to their website and look for the Open Table link.  (http://twobrothersbrewing.com/restaurants/roundhouse/)

The roundhouse was constructed in 1856 to serve Aurora on the Chicago & Aurora Railroad. The walls of the structure were constructed with locally quarried limestone from Batavia, Illinois. The building is the oldest limestone roundhouse in the United States and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. And it is really cool.

Classes and Tech Sheet: https://pca-chicago.org/autocross/

-To improve our events, we have made the following changes:

GingerMan Drivers Education Weekend August 9/11 2024
Driver's Ed
08/09/24-08/11/24
The Chicago Region invites you to join us for our 27th annual Drivers Education Weekend at GingerMan Raceway in beautiful South Haven, Michigan.  This year’s event will be held on Saturday, August 10th and Sunday, August 11th. We encourage novices and first-timers at Gingerman to attend the Friday evening "chalk talk" and low speed (under 50MPH) orientation laps to familiarize yourself with the track.  Chalk Talk begins at 6PM Friday August 9th. Tech and Registration will be open at 4PM.  You must have a Tech sticker to participate in the orientation laps.

By popular demand Dinner at the Track is back!.  We have an optional Italian dinner on Saturday after the track goes cold with LIVE music from the Rolling Stones! (We reserve the right to substitute our live music band if the Rolling Stones fail to show).  Dinner is $40/person ($25 for children ) and includes beer, wine, and beverages. We hope you can join us for one of the season’s premier DE events.

Registration is open to all PCA members, as well as experienced non-members with an appropriate sports or high performance car that meets the Chicago Region’s 2024 safety requirements (Cayenne or other SUV's are not allowed EXCEPT Macan run group on Sunday).

Novice drivers are welcome to attend and will be assigned to work with an experienced PCA instructor for the weekend.  However, please note that instructor availability for this event is very limited, therefore novices will be accepted on a first come – first served basis with PCA members given priority over non-PCA members.

Event check-in and Tech is available Friday afternoon after 4PM at the track.  There will be a chalk talk at 6:00 PM followed by low speed (50MPH) lead/follow for track orientation.  It is highly recommended for novices and experienced drivers with none/limited Gingerman experience to attend this session.

Group 1 will run with PCA Expanded Passing rules. ALL VEHICLES AND DRIVERS IN GROUP 1 MUST BE INCOMPLIANCE WITH PCA AND CHICAGO REGION EXPANDED PASSING RULES AND PROTOCOLS WHICH INCLUDE ROLL PROTECTION AND MINIMUM 5-POINT HARNESS AND HANS (or HANS equivalent). No exceptions, not even you Bart!

PCA National , Chicago Region, and St Louis Region instructors willing to help a novice student for the weekend will receive $100/day discount towards registration fee. If you are an experienced Gingerman driver (5 track days at Gingerman or more) and wish to register as an instructor contact Glenn DeWeirdt at glenndeweirdt@yahoo.com.

Please note! Late registration/payment fee: Event fee will increase by $60 if payment is not received by August 2.  Even if you are registered, but have not paid, the fees will increase after this date.  Please be sure to register and pay early to avoid this late payment fee!

For more information please contact GingerMan DE Event Co-Chairman Glenn DeWeirdt at (630)862-4355 , Neil French (630) 461-0089, or Mark Palmer (630)728-2582

Please note our refund and onsite registration policy:

- No refunds will be allowed after 8/07/2024
- Onsite registration surcharge of $20 plus beer for staff!

See you at GingerMan!

Porsches & Pilsners at Two Brothers Roundhouse
Social
10/05/24-10/05/24
Join us for Porsches & Pilsners at Two Brothers Roundhouse, on October 5, 2024, at 11:00 am until 2:30 pm or so.

Park in the designated area reserved for PCA members and check out the cars.

Like last year's Porsches & Pilsners, this a low key event for a fall day. Hang out, maybe come inside for a Pilsner (they brew their own), or better yet, make a reservation for yourself and your friends for some lunch or an early dinner. The menu is extensive, and designed for comfort. Kick back and relax. This isn't a group sit down, make your own schedule.

205 N Broadway
Aurora, IL 60505
630-264-2739

Go to their website and look for the Open Table link.  (http://twobrothersbrewing.com/restaurants/roundhouse/) Or just give them a call.

See you there.
