Coastal Empire Region PCA Coastal Empire Region May 30-31, 2020
05/30/20-05/31/20
The Coastal Empire Region's summer DE is being held on May 30-31, 2020.

IMPORTANT:
This event was changed to a SOLO qualified driver only event as of April 24, 2020.
As of May 1, 2020, this even is FULL and CLOSED.

This event is being conducted at Roebling Road Raceway: www.roeblingroad.com

Registration will be open on December 10, 2019. PLEASE schedule as early as possible as our past events fill up quickly!

As always, this event is open to PCA and non PCA members.

OUR DE EVENTS CONTINUE TO BE OPEN TO ALL MAKES AND MODELS, including convertibles with the proper roll bar protection.

Special note about convertibles: Any convertible or cabrio delivered with factory installed roll over protection meets the minimum standards for PCA DE events. In these cars we recommend the soft-top be in the up position or the hard top installed. If the top is in the down position, an arm restraint system (SFI and/or FIA approved) must be used. If a convertible or cabrio does not have factory installed roll over protection, a roll bar or roll cage must be installed, which meets the "broomstick" rule (the driver's helmeted head is below a bar placed on top of the roll bar and windshield). All targa tops must be installed unless there is additional roll over protection. All sunroofs must be in the closed position.
The windshield alone is not considered to be factory roll over protection.

All cars entered in the event must have fenders attached to the vehicle body at all four wheels.
Additional requirements are: (1) drivers MUST be 18 or older with a valid driver’s license to enter, (2) your vehicle has to be safety-checked by an ASE certified mechanic within two weeks of the event and re-checked by our tech team at the track-grid tech. (3) drivers must wear helmets (SA or M 2010, or 2015 designation).

This 2 day driving event is focused on developing high performance driving skills. Instructors will be provided for all students in the Green (novice) and Blue (advanced novice) groups.
These events are multi-purpose with a focus on teaching drivers with little to no track experience the fundamentals of high performance driving.  We also accommodate those that have advanced skills and want additional track time to hone those skills.
So whether you are interested in trying this type of event for the first time or are returning as an avid "track junkie," we have something for all skill levels.

For those interested in our ONE DAY OPTION, this option is available to GREEN/NOVICE and BLUE NOVICE PARTICIPANTS on Saturday ONLY.

All BLUE SOLO, WHITE, BLACK, AND RED GROUP PARTICIPANTS may select this option for either Saturday or Sunday.

Coastal Empire Region will accept credit card payments through clubregistration.net.

Please note that If YOU have NOT made a PAYMENT, you are PENDING and REGISTRATION is INCOMPLETE, and you will NOT receive a CONFIRMATION email from clubregistration.net.
Please pay within 10 days of registraton.  If paying by check, please include a copy of your registration.  Additional details will be e-mailed to you once your registration is confirmed.

PLEASE: NO TEST AND TUNE: this is a DE!

The host hotel is the Springhill Suites at 1 Jay R Turner Dr, Savannah, GA 31408. This hotel is located at the Savannah Airport exit 104 off of I-95. The phone number is 912-330-5555 and the general manager is Tim Schaadt. Coastal has negotiated a block of 40 rooms at a discounted rate up until May 8, 2020. After that date, the regular rate is applicable.
Guests can make their reservations by calling 888-287-9400, provide the hotel code SAVSA, the group name “Coastal Empire PCA” , the group code COA, and the date of arrival.
After May 8, 2020, if anyone needs a reservation, they may contact Peggy Crist at 912-330-5555, Ext 503.

MEDICAL: HPDE events will expose participants to mental stress, high acceleration, turning and braking. You will also encounter high temperatures, loud noises, and vibration.
For your safety and the safety of others, you should be in good health and free from untreated high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by participation in this type of event. Contact your physician if you have questions about your participation.

TECH INSPECTIONS: Any reputable ASE certified technician, auto shop, or dealership - preferably one who is familiar with your make or model - should be able to perform a tech inspection on your vehicle. Some of the local auto shops which provide tech inspections for your vehicle are: HHI Porsche, H & H Auto (on HHI), and A & R Auto (in Beaufort). Please contact for any applicable fees.

HARNESSES AND RESTRAINTS: As of January 1, 2019, the PCA DE Minimum Standards were expanded to state that if a driver uses a harness system, he or she will ALSO be required to utilize a head and neck restraint system, commonly referred to as a HANS device. A head and neck restraint device is an integral part of the harness system.  Because the rule of equal restraint ALWAYS applies, if a driver uses a harness system there MUST also be a harness system available and used by the passenger. Thus, both the driver and passenger will be required to use a HANS device.
If you are in need of either a helmet or HANS, please contact Bob and Nadine Saville from Naro Escape Motorsports at 704-309-5499, as they are experts in fitting helmets and restraints.

RUN SESSIONS: Instructor and black run groups will have longer run sessions so as to minimize tire heat cycles.

Please join us for another exciting and safe event. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Peachstate Region PCA Peachstate PCA - DE June 6th - 7th at Michelin Raceway-Road Atlanta
06/06/20-06/07/20
Tired of being cooped up and binge-watching show after show? Then, get off the couch and out to the track! We are holding our HPDE on June 6-7 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

Due to the COVID-19 virus, and the 6-foot spacing recommendations, we are structuring a new format for this event.

Taking a page out of performance driving schools, we have developed a different model of instructing using a structured Lead-Follow teaching approach. We have defined a structured set of exercises which we believe will enable the process of safely learning performance driving while having fun.

More Experienced drivers are also welcome.  We have four run groups so you will be on the track with drivers of a similar skill level and car speed.  For the very seasoned driver, we offer extended passing.  This means you can pass anywhere on the track with a point-by.

Atlanta Speedwerks, our sponsor for all 2020 HPDE events, will have a support crew at each event providing additional trackside assistance for all HPDE participants at no cost. They are a race-shop here in Atlanta campaigning two cars in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series. They are experts in everything track related.

Be ready for an exhilarating weekend. The camaraderie is amazing.

This event is open to everyone and every make of car, so don’t wait.  It is way past time to get out and feel that adrenaline rush again.  Please make your commitment to this event now so we can gauge participation. If circumstances prevent us from holding the event, refunds will be issued in full.

We will be following best practices recommended by the CDC and Georgia. Hopefully, those will be minimal by the time of our event.

  • Receipt of payment is required to be confirmed for the event. Registration order is based upon payment time stamp.

  • Refund Policy: Our cancellation policy allows for a full refund up to 2 weeks prior to the event. ANY cancellation received after cancellation date is ineligible for any refund.  “Received in Writing” means received at the event registrar email address, with receipt requested to: (hopperm993@gmail.com)

  • See you at the track!
Peachstate Region PCA Wolf Mountain Winery Tour June 18
    06/18/20-06/18/20
Three dates so that we can split up into smaller groups than we normally have on tours. Each date will be limited to 20 to 30 participants. Cost for this tour will be $20 per vehicle for club members and $25 for non-members, and as usual registration for the tour will be done through https://www.clubregistration.net. Registration will open first for those who originally registered for the March 21 tour and you will have one week of exclusive access. Registration for you opens Wednesday May 20. Dates not filled within one week will then be available to anyone who was not previously registered.

Atlanta Motorcar Club and Storage has agreed to host us for sign-in and staging to begin the tour. If you have never been there you are in for a treat! They are located at 1645 Redi Road Cumming, GA and we will begin sign-in at 8:00. Coffee and donuts will be served from their bar area in disposable cups and plates.

We will drive to Wolf Mountain Winery where Karl Boegner will personally take us on a tour of his garages. He has quite a collection of beautiful cars and memorabilia, and yes, there have been changes since last year. This is always fun as Karl describes the cars in detail, along with their history. You will not want to miss this. To allow for social distancing during this part of the tour we will have half the group go through the garages before lunch and the other half after lunch.

Lunch is optional, and costs $32 per person including taxes and gratuities, not including wine. Karl has graciously agreed to serve us glasses of the winery’s reserve wines at $10 per glass and tasting flight wines at $5 per glass. This is a discount of $5 per glass in both cases.

Lunch will be limited to 20 to 30 people each day, but we are going three times, so we should be able to accommodate everyone who wants to participate. There will be a waiting list for the lunch in case we fill up and have last-minute cancellations. Of course, everyone will have the opportunity to have wine tastings.

Each round of our 2020 championship will take place at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Hampton, GA.

    Schedule as follows:

    7:30am Gates Open
8:00am Registration Opens and Track is open for walking
    9:30am Mandatory Drivers Meeting
    10:00am First car out
    3:30-4pm Finish

What to do when you arrive

The Champions Lot at Atlanta Motor Speedway is divided into three sections; the area covered with cones is the track, in the middle is a concrete area leading to the ticket booths, we call this the grid.  The parking lot not covered in cones is the pit.

    On arrival:
    1) Pit your car in an available parking space
    2) Come to the registration table to complete check in.
    3) Return to car and remove any loose items and apply numbers for autocross
    4) Move your car to the grid and open the trunk(s) for tech inspection
    5) Walk the course

    Registration

We prefer registration on Clubregistration.net, but on-site registration will be available for an additional $5.  All drivers that register on-site will be working a corner station.

    The costs are (per driver):
    - $50 for PCA members ($55 on-site)
    - $55 for non-members ($60 on-site)

This includes 10 runs, water, loaner helmets and instruction.  Please bring your own lunch and weather appropriate clothing.

    Members Rates

To qualify for the PCA rate you must have a PCA membership number associated with your Clubregistration account, you can verify/add this under My Account -> Edit Memberships.  There are no exceptions.

    Numbers and Classes

The system will auto-generate a number if you don't already have one.  If you are a first time autocross participant, we do expect you to classify your own car.  That information is located in the Autocross section of the Peachstate website: http://www.peachstatepca.org/Autocross/7.

    As a rough guide:

    • If your car is not a Porsche then you're in the NP classes
    • If your car is as delivered from the dealer with no modifications then you're in the Showroom Stock 'S' classes
    • If you've made some light modifications then you are in the Production 'P' classes
    • If you've made more than light modifications then you are in either Improved 'I' or Modified 'M' classes - please check the website for details of which modifications are allowed

    Minors

If your child (minimum age 16yr) is participating in the event, please bring a completed waiver.  Minimum requirements for the autocross are 16 and a valid driver's license.  Licensed minor's may drive by themselves but a parent or legal guardian must be present on site.

    Multi-Driver Cars

If you are a multi-driver car, both drivers will need to register and pay separately and enter the other driver as their co-driver.  This helps us put you in separate run groups.

    Visit PeachstatePCA.org For More Information

Before asking questions, please review all of the information presented on the Peachsate web site.  If you are having trouble with the club registration web site, please contact them directly.  If you have questions about the event itself, please contact me or any of the other Autocross committee members.

    Thanks.

At this time it is not known how “Automatic Emergency Braking Systems” will react at speed in the HPDE environment. For the safety of all participants PCA has decided not to allow affected vehicles to run with our group at HPDE events unless the system can be and is turned off.  We have no doubt that this equipment is very helpful in street driving; however, we cannot risk endangering drivers, instructors and their vehicles at our on-track driving schools.

Cabriolet/Convertible Cars: Porsche OEM roll over protection in Boxsters and 996, 997, and 991 911’s is acceptable.  All other convertible cars need to meet the minimum standards for PCA DE events which are: a roll bar or roll cage must be installed, which meets the "broomstick" rule (the driver's helmeted head is below a bar placed on top of the roll bar and windshield). Design, installation and materials of roll bars or cages and their installation must meet PCA Club Racing specifications, contained in Appendix A-Roll Cage Specifications of the PCA Club Racing Rules.  All targa tops must be installed unless there is addition roll over protection. All sunroofs must be in the closed position.  We recommend the soft-top be in the up position or the hard top installed. If the top is in the down position, then an SFI and/or FIA approved arm restraint system must be used.

    * VIR has local restrictions for convertibles, please review the important information below if you drive a convertible.

FOR BOXSTERS: 2005 to present Boxsters may run at VIR with the OEM Integral roll hoops.  Pre-2005 Boxsters must have additional roll over protection such as the Brey-Krause Extension.  For specific Boxster questions please email driversed@carolinas-pca.com

Coastal Empire Region PCA Coastal Empire Region December 5-6, 2020
    12/05/20-12/06/20
The Coastal Empire Region's fall DE is being held on September 12-13, 2020

This event is being conducted at Roebling Road Raceway: www.roeblingroad.com

Registration will be open on June 3, 2020.

Some of the local auto shops which provide tech inspections for your vehicle are: HHI Porsche, H & H Auto (on HHI), and Bob Woodman Tires in Beaufort. Please contact for any applicable fees.

HARNESSES AND RESTRAINTS: Starting on January 1, 2019, the PCA DE Minimum Standards will be expanded to state that if a driver uses a harness system, he or she will ALSO be required to utilize a head and neck restraint system, commonly referred to as a HANS device. A head and neck restraint device is an integral part of the harness system.  Because the rule of equal restraint ALWAYS applies, if a driver uses a harness system there MUST also be a harness system available and used by the passenger. Thus, both the driver and passenger will be required to use a HANS device.
We highly encourage all DE participants to not wait until January of 2019 to comply with this new minimum standard, but to review the options now.  Head and neck restraint system devices are now more affordable than ever and easily purchased online.  Please contact Linda at Apex Performance 866-505-2739, as she is an expert in fitting helmets and restraints.

HELMETS: be advised that Coastal will NO longer be providing an option to rent helmets.

RUN SESSIONS: Instructor and black run groups will have longer run sessions so as to minimize tire heat cycles.

Please join us for another exciting and safe event. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
