Metro NY PCA DE @ NJMP: Driver Education Event for PCA Members

Friday, April 3: Thunderbolt
Saturday, April 4: Lightning

We will be offering a "Taste of the Track" session for anyone (over 18) interested in the DE program. “Taste of the Track” is to introduce a driving enthusiast to the wonderful world of high performance driving PCA style. We understand that some drivers would like to learn more about the PCA Driver’s Education program, but are not quite ready to be a full-time DE Student. Participants will get (1) session on track during our regular DE Lunch Break as a passenger with a DE Instructor. With that in mind, this program has the following requirements: Must be at least eighteen years of age; Must attend the Region’s novice student activities, including the general driver’s meeting and Novice classroom session(s); Long Pants and Closed Toe Shoes must be worn on track; Helmets are not required. Participants MUST register for this.

Student Run Groups:
Green Run Group: Beginning Student
Yellow Run Group: Advanced Student

Solo Run Groups:
Blue Run Group: Beginning Solo Driver
White Run Group: Intermediate Solo Driver
Black Run Group: Advanced Solo Driver

Instructor Run Groups:
Black Run Group Instructor
Red Run Group Instructor

PLEASE contact us BEFORE registering if you are unsure of your Run Group.
**IF YOU HAVE NOT INSTRUCTED WITH US BEFORE, PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE REGISTERING AS AN INSTRUCTOR!**

All Student Drivers will start out on the waiting list until there are enough instructors registered.

Roster spots WILL NOT be held without payment.

Pre-event tech inspection must be completed by a PCA Region approved tech site within 2 weeks of event.

It is mandatory for all Boxsters, Cabriolets, Roadsters and Speedsters to have roll bars that meet minimum height requirements.
**NJMP requires open cars to have deployed roll-over protection**
Open cars must be equipped with a roll bar meeting the following specifications: (i) the roll bar must be of sufficient height to ensure that the top of the driver’s helmet sits below the line from the top of the roll bar to the top of the windshield (commonly referred to as the “broomstick test”) and; (ii) the roll bar must be fixed and visible at all times when the vehicle is on the track.

Snell 2010 or newer helmets are required.
If your car has aftermarket 5 or 6 Point Harness, the webbing must not have an expired date on the manufacturer tag. Most webbing expires after 5 years from date of production.
If you are running a 5 or 6 point harness, you are now REQUIRED to use a head and neck restraint device that meets the standards of either SFI 38.1 or FIA 8858.

PLEASE NOTE: You may ONLY use an OPEN-FACE helmet at NJMP in a factory stock vehicle
equipped with air bags. All others MUST use a closed face helmet. Please be aware of this. This is a law mandated by the NJ State Police in which the track must abide by.

INSTRUCTORS: Instructor fees only apply for approved Metro Instructors and Nationally Certified Instructors. **IF YOU HAVE NOT INSTRUCTED WITH US BEFORE, PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE REGISTERING AS AN INSTRUCTOR!**

Payment must be received within 5 days of registration to hold your spot (or 7 days prior to event; whichever comes first). You will receive an e-mail confirmation of your registration. If you have not received notification one week prior to the event, please contact the event chair. Registration can not be completed if payment is not received.
