Description Due to the uncertainty of Covid 19 the Friday social, schedule, tech, registration and drivers meetings are all subject to change or cancelation. Please read future emails for updates and changes.

Florida Citrus Region is hosting another PCA/Motorsport Safety Foundation Instructor School (10/9) and DE (10/10-11) at Roebling Road Raceway, near Savannah GA. Descriptions of the Instructor School and DE are separate below. Please read both and then register separately for each. Attendees to the School will receive substantial fee reductions for the following DE.

Guest Instructor for this event will be Chris Hall, a lead instructor for Porsche Track
Experience, headquartered at Barber Motorsport Park.  Chris is a professional race car driver and coach.  He has driven in IMSA Continental Series, American Le Mans, NASCAR and more.  He ran with Paul Newman, Sebastian Bordais, Christian de Matta and more.  Chris will share his expertise during the School and will be available for individual instruction for a $50 fee per session between instructor candidate classroom sessions. There will be a sign up sheet at the event.

Please note that we do not confirm registrants until payment is received.

INSTRUCTOR SCHOOL 10/9/2019:

The event begins on Friday as an Instructor School. Successful Candidates will be granted Level 2 Certification from Motorsport Safety Foundation as well as membership in the PCA core of instructors.

The school is intended for:
* Solo drivers seeking to become DE instructors;
* Current PCA instructors wanting to be certified by Motorsport Safety Foundation;
* Solo drivers looking for lots of open track time;
* Solo drivers that are considering whether or not to become an instructor may attend the school as "observers". They may participate in all classes and exercises, but will not be Candidates.

All drivers in the school must have at least 4 solo events and Candidates must have at least 4 solo events with open passing with a point-by.  All must have equal seats and seat belts for 2 occupants. Mentors will drive Candidate cars for all school exercises.

All candidates will be sent an on-line course with critical information. The course must be successfully completed prior to attending the school. No exceptions.

The School is heavy on role playing and classroom participation. We will alternate between role playing on and off the track, with lots of track time. Mentors will drive Candidate's cars for the role play sessions.  Thus, Candidate cars must be equipped with 2 seats and equivalent seat belts/harnesses -- which must comply with PCA regulations.

Candidates can use this day to learn the art of teaching high performance driving as well as to converse with experienced driving Instructors. Instructors can practice and sharpen skills in a small group setting. Instructors and solo drivers will enjoy open track sessions while Candidates are in class.

Candidates successfully completing the course will be eligible for National PCA DE Instructor Corps Membership as well as Level 2 MSF Certification, and should instruct at the 10/10-11 DE. Only a limited number of Candidates will be accepted.

Don't miss this opportunity to sharpen your driving and teaching skills. For more specific info contact one of us, as below.

A High Performance Drivers Education event will also be held on Oct. 10-11, 2020 at Roebling Road Raceway. Register separately at the link above.  This is a 2 day driving event focused on developing high performance driving skills for all drivers. Instructors will be provided for all students in the Green (novice) and Blue (advanced novice) groups.

In response to demands to provide a richer track experience, space will be limited to 15 drivers for student run groups, and 20 for the White group. The event will fill up early, so sign up now.

GENERAL:

MEDICAL: HPDE events expose participants to mental stress, high acceleration, braking and turning, as well as the possibility of high temperatures, loud noises and vibration. For safety, you should be in good health and free from untreated high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by participation in this type of event. Contact your physician if you have questions about your participation.

APEX PERFORMANCE: Apex Performance will be supporting our event.  They will have a variety of communicators, gloves, tire gauges, Apex Pro timers, head & neck restraints.  There will be a limited amount of helmets and larger items available but if you are looking for something in particular, let them know.  They will also bring along some brake pads but if you anticipate needing pads/rotors for the weekend, place your order ahead of time and they will reserve those items for pick up at the track.  Please call to place your order and they can have it with them at the event – 843-299-0997 or feel free to email at sales@apexperformance.net

GATE HOURS: Gates will be open at 5:00 pm Thursday, 10/8 and will remain open until 6:00 pm Sunday, 10/11. Camping is allowed for a fee, sign up under "Options".  Remember quiet hours are 8:00 pm to 8:00 am every day. No loud motors. Also, do not drive trailers on Ziegler Rd. Rather, continue on Rte. 80 past Ziegler Rd. and turn right on Rte. 17 for about 2 miles and turn right onto Roebling Road to the track.

TECH AND REGISTRATION: Registration and tech for the School will be at the track Friday morning. Registration for the DE will be at the hotel on Friday starting about 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and at track on Saturday morning 7:00 am to 7:30 am. Tech for "trailer" cars will be at the track on Friday evening and Saturday morning. "Street" cars may be teched at the track, or at the Country Inn starting Friday at about 6-7 pm, or at the track Saturday morning 7:00 am to 7:30. Again, remember, no loud motors at RRR during quiet times (8:00 pm to 8:00 am), and 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Sunday. Strictly enforced by RRR management.

HOTEL AND SOCIALS: We are reserved for Oct. 8th, 9th and 10th of October at the Wingate.  The rate is $99 plus tax.  The cut off date for losing room rate guarantee is Sept. 24th.  The contact # for the Wingate is 912-544-1180.
In addition to track events your admission may include a social Friday evening at the Wingate. Lots of pizza, wings, beer, wine, and good times.  Questions? Please contact annedelvillano@comcast.net or 970-406-2090.

HARNESSES AND RESTRAINTS: All harnesses will be inspected to assure that they are within expiration date.  Plan ahead.
If a driver uses a harness system, he or she will be required to use a head and neck restraint system, commonly referred to as a HANS device.  If a driver uses a harness system there must also be a harness system available and used by the passenger, and both must use a HANS device. Head and neck restraint system devices are now more affordable and easily purchased online.  Contact Linda at Apex Performance 866-505-2739.  She is an expert in fitting restraints as well as helmets.

CAMPING. RV/Camping on grounds at RRR is available for a flat fee of $50 for 2-3 nights, plus the RRR fee for electricity usage. See "Options" to register.

ENABLE TEXT MESSAGING: We may need to send text messages during the event with important information. Please be sure to enable text messaging in your clubreg profile.

RIDE ALONGS: Ride alongs for non-driving students are not allowed.  Instructors may offer ride alongs to driving students in a run group one step higher than the student’s group.  For example, an instructor may give a ride along to a blue student in the white group.  During such student ride along, the instructor must drive at speeds appropriate to the run group and must obey the passing rules for that group.

See you soon.
