It is with my pleasure to present our 6th and final Maverick Driving Tour for 2018. This driving tour is for the pure driving enthusiast and will be unlike any driving tour our region has done in years! The route has everything one would want on a country drive -Porsche Style-. Long straights, wide open scenic views, twisties, blind corners, and elevation changes will be experienced. This is prime Texas ranch area my friends! Many of you know Mitch Mitchell and how he was involved with our regions tour program. When I started with our program it got a little overwhelming in the beginning. Mitch seemed to pick up on this and had a great way of defusing things that seemed stressful. Mitch was one of those guys that anyone could have a great conversation with. Every time I saw Mitch at a PCA event he was surrounded by friends and joining in on the conversations was a pleasure. He also did a lot of drives in Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico. To quote John Glover, “Mitch was part of a unique bunch of friends who like to drive fast”. This group of friends went on to create the base line of what we know today as – The Maverick Region Tours Program-. Mitch's favorite route in our area was Farm Road 4. As a Tribute, we have chosen it for our last driving tour this year. In addition to William Kruders article in this months Slipstream there are two more I would like to mention that were about Mitch Mitchell. They can be found in Slipstream September 2015(pages 18-19) and October 2015(pages 16-17). Electronic Newsletters can be found at:mav.pca.org/Newsletter/newsletter_2015.asp . The route will begin at 10am on Sunday November 4th at Jacksboro Middle School 812 W Belknap St. Jacksboro, Texas 76458. The route is about 2 hours and 83 miles long. At the time this article was written there was no construction on this route. We do have a rest stop. The driving tour will end with a picnic lunch at the square in Granbury. Bring a picnic lunch and a chair. Alternatively there are also several restaurants in the area to choose from. You must register for the tour at http://mav.pca.org/Events/Tours/. We have two classes now on our tours. Choose Vintage Class for a more relaxed scenic tour or Modern Class for the same type of tour that we have provided in the past. Whichever class you choose it is your decision no matter the type of Porsche you drive. After registration, we will send you all the information needed to attend three days before the tour. We hand out packets the day of the tour with all the information as well. The Drivers Briefing will begin at 10 am so please arrive early so that you are signed in on time. Most tour attendees arrive early to meet new friends and socialize with familiar faces. Arriving early also helps our volunteers get everyone signed in on time so the tour is on schedule. No special navigation will be needed. Our Group Leaders will be familiar with the route and will guide each group of 14 cars or less in their group on the route. If you have any questions about the event please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
